He's crawling!

Okay, well, as of yesterday (Monday the 16th) Jack is now crawling! Here is a video of him in action:

I just saw him standing in his play yard - so he can lift himself up too!

Sitting! Standing! A Tooth!

Jack is now 8 1/2 months old - he's probably well over 20lbs and is doing a lot of new things. He's been sitting really well, and as of Sunday the 8th, he was able to go from a crawling position to a sitting position on his own. Another big milestone on Sunday was that he cut his first tooth. Of course, it happened in the middle of Wegmans while I was trying to get grocery shopping done. I found out first hand what it is like to be the lady with the screaming child in a store. It wasn't fun. The first tooth is on the bottom left. He was really miserable on Sunday/Monday, but seems to be a little happier now. It's just barely through his gums and really sharp!

He hasn't crawled yet, but he gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth - he's trying! Last night, I turned around and he was standing in his crib!! We had to lower his crib today so he doesn't jump out - yikes!

Here's a picture seconds after I saw him standing:

Jack is now eating 3 meals a day (fruit/oatmeal for breakfast, veggie/rice cereal for lunch, veggie/fruit/oatmeal for dinner). He's also eating Happy Baby Organic Puffs - he loves them. He enjoys being able to feed himself. He's almost 9 months old, so I think we'll be giving him some more things to try to eat on his own! His 9 month appointment is September 4th, so I'll update with a height and weight when I get it then.

Almost 7 months old...

Wow...Jack is almost 7 moths old! We officially retired the infant carrier and car seat bases from the cars yesterday. EEP! Steve installed the new big boy car seats in both cars.

Here is a pic of Jack testing out his new car seat:

In other news, it appears that his new favorite food is mangos! My mom bought him a pouch of organic baby food mangos, and of course (because I can't buy it around here) it's his favorite. I found a similar product so we'll see if it's a big hit as well. I'll probably try to make my own mangos too if I can get them pureed enough.

He still likes to talk a lot, lots and lots of babbling...."mamama", "dadada", "babababa".... he is also VERY ticklish, which is really funny. You can get some good laughs out of him by tickling his feet, face, arms....anything! He is also getting very strong and starting to ferociously pull hair, pinch, and teethe on my arm! Ouch!! I think he's starting to teethe for real, and frozen washcloths are his favorite thing lately.

Oh! And just about a week or two ago, his hair started lightening up and curling!! It's very wild, I don't know what to do with it.

My guestimate is that he's about 19+ pounds now...

6 months old already?!

Jack is 6 months old now...can you believe it? Here are some of his recent accomplishments...

He went swimming for the first time in Grandma's pool:

He tried peas as his first vegetable:

He tried out a sippy cup:

He got messy with some carrots:

He now says "mamamamamama!!" - I think he is just making up the words, but Steve is sure that he is actually looking for me when he says mama :) Not sure which is true because there seems to be some validity to him saying mama and him wanting me. He only says it when he cries though.

He's still a very easy going baby and sleeps through the night (10-12 hours!) He has fun at daycare and is now playing on the floor and rolling around to get where he wants to go. He's not crawling yet. So far he has eaten rice cereal, apples, peas, and carrots. We'll be introducing new fruits and veggies each week!

At his 6 month checkup on June 4th, he weighed 18lbs 4oz and was 26 inches long! I think it may be almost time to retire the baby car seat carrier and install the car seat...

5 months old and first try with rice cereal

Jack is now 5 months old! He can now sit up (he still wobbles over though) and he likes to babble a lot. He just figured out how to roll over and roll back over again! The Dr. thought we should try him on some rice cereal because he's a very hungry boy. So far so good...he's on day 4 of it and seems quite happy at feeding time. He opens up his mouth and gets excited to eat now.

Here is a photo and a video of him eating:

Baptism and first ear infection

The week of Jack's baptism, he ended up with his first ear infection. For the record, at that appointment, he weighed 16 lbs 2.5 oz! He's doubled his birth weight! Anyway, just as he was starting to feel better, he managed to scratch his eyeball and he was pretty miserable for a few days. Luckily, by Sunday morning, he was back to happy Jack and was ready for his baptism! Which was a very good thing, because there were a lot of people that were able to make it to his very special day.

Here is a picture of us at the church:

4 month update and more

Jack's 4 month checkup went well. He was at 14 lbs 14 oz and 24 3/4 inches long (tall?)

However, today, he had to visit the doctor because he has his first ear infection in his left ear. Poor guy. His weight today was 15 lbs 12 oz !! Is it even possible he gained a whole pound in only 3 weeks?! Crazy. I'm hoping he will get better with rest and antibiotics so he can be 100% ready to take on his baptism this weekend. There are a lot of people coming to see him, so it should be a great day. He's got the cutest outfit ever too. I'll have to make a new post once the baptism is over.

Here's a recent picture of him:

(He can grab his toes and he's pretty proud of himself)
